Racism and Assumption

So I get the impression from many of you that race is something none of us would see or notice if we weren't taught to. I get the impression from others that we ought not to. But there is a vast difference between race and racism. Whiteness, for instance, is a racial identifier like any other. And whiteness studies has popped up all over the place specifically because we often forget that white is a race since it is attended by so much privilege.

Anywho, I'd like to point you in the direction of a recent work that came out which looks at the question of how children identify race: "How the 'Hidden Brain' Does the Thinking for Us."

I'll also be posting some video links on Twitter that look closely at the issue. Enjoy!
